by: Nick Deriso March 10, 2010

Grambling baseball picked up wins No. 1 and 2 over the weekend, besting Texas-based NAIA Jarvis Christian by identical scores of 14-1 in the doubleheader home-weekend opener for first-year Tigers coach James Cooper.
More importantly, the squad might be finding a new leader in Eric Zagone, who took the mound for the nightcap on Saturday. He [...]

by: Nick Deriso March 5, 2010

Grambling is homeward bound, finally.
The Tigers (0-7) make their belated weekend debut in Grambling against Jarvis Christian on Saturday, having played more baseball games than all but two Southwestern Athletic Conference foes — Texas Southern and Alabama A&M — and just one in the friendly confines. That was back on Feb. 23, a rainy Tuesday [...]

by: Nick Deriso February 26, 2010

Last year, the two north Louisiana baseball teams split, with Grambling claiming victory in Shreveport and the Gents evening the series on the return trip.
So, there’s a mutual respect, too.
“They are going to be well [...]

by: Nick Deriso February 25, 2010

Grambling’s Fred Hobdy won more college basketball games than any coach in Louisiana history, and was an integral part in the school’s only two undefeated seasons in football.
By Friday, the long-overdue honor of naming GSU’s new multi-purpose basketball facility after Hobdy will be complete. Grambling this week is officially petitioning its oversight committee, the University [...]

Grambling’s offense might not have seen its last departure

by: Nick Deriso February 24, 2010

A zippy guard — listed as a junior in your program — sinks the shot that sends Grambling to overtime against Jackson State. When it’s over, he’s posted a career-high 29 points, and added four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Great news for the men’s team. Terrible news for the football team.
That guard is [...]
