An early look at Grambling’s 2010 football schedule

by: Nick Deriso February 22, 2010 , 10:03 am (CT)

Mayor Cedric B. Glover and school officials have set an 11 a.m. Tuesday news conference in Shreveport to announce a September meeting between LA Tech and Grambling at Independence Stadium.

This game, a first between the two cross-parish football programs, would make 11 unconfirmed dates for Grambling football in 2010.

UPDATE: Grambling confirmed this schedule with an official announcement on March 4.

Four games would like be held at Robinson Stadium — including Jackson State, in a rematch of the 2007-08 SWAC Championship Games; Alabama State, in the return of former GSU coach Melvin Spears, now the Hornets’ offensive coordinator; Alcorn State; and Concordia College, the NAIA program that Grambling last played in 2005.

Road games would include Alabama A&M and Mississippi Valley State. Neutral site games remain with Prairie View A&M, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Southern.

Here’s an unconfirmed take on the upcoming schedule; Grambling has made no official announcement.

Sept. 18: Jackson State, at Robinson Stadium in Grambling.
