Two-star defensive tackle prospect Eric Young, of Hillside High in Durham, N.C., is interested in Grambling, among other programs.

Young (6-2, 342; 5.72 in the 40) is ranked No. 110 in the nation among defensive tackles by ESPN Insider. He participated, earlier this year, in the Rivals.com Five-Star Showdown in Greensboro, N.C., run by former NFL star wide receiver Ricky Proehl. Highlights of Young appear 3 minutes into this video from the event:

“Young is a big boy at well over 300-pounds,” according to the ESPN Insider’s recruiting blog. “He now carries his weight fairly well, though he needs to be careful from here on out on how he adds size — and could probably benefit his game some by shedding some bulk and getting down closer to 310-320.”

He has also expressed interest in Florida State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and others.

“Recruiting seems to be going well,” Young told NoleInsider.com. “I have offers from Florida State, N.C. State, North Carolina A&T, and just spoke with Grambling University. All the coaches are saying the same thing. They want me to keep my grades up and improve on them a little more. They want me to stay good with my behavior and books. That’s pretty much it right now.”

He has scheduled a visit to Grambling on Jan. 22, after stops on the 12th at NC State and 15th at A&T, but was leaning early on toward the Seminoles.

“Yes, right now Florida State is leading,” he added. “I have never been down to Florida State, but I would really like to come down and visit. I haven’t set up plans yet.”
