Johnson, after arriving late, hits post from 35 out, then nails it from 40.
Lined up at own 35, Dillon’ first pass is dropped. Defense then stuffs a run.
Kiare Thompson runs to 30. Van Phillips reception to 8. Phillips again to 3.
Rodale Pippen drops it. Third and goal. Earnest Eastland can’t gut it in.
Offense goes for it on fourth down, but Dillon’s pass falls to ground. Spady drills in on drops.
Second possession, defense stiffening. Third and 1: Warren stuffed behind line.
Backups: Reyes again under center.
Dillon working like additional coach on sidelines, discussing missed route assignment with Pippen.

Batiste pulls in a laser from Reyes to give reserves initial first down.
Second teamers stop the drive cold on a near interception by Dominic Bell.
Charlie Brewer sacks Reyes. Third down.
Corey Robinson falls down on route, ending drive. Higgins takes field at QB.
Three consecutive incompletions for Grambling’s next set of reserves.
Batiste in a brutal collision at the 10; helmet goes flying. But he holds on.
Third and 10 suddenly, with a last chance for Higgins, Foul snuffs drive. FG from 30. Johnson is good.
Dillon returns. Two running plays go nowhere.
Dillon throws to a spot, but 9 isn’t there. New set of downs.
Great defense by Copeland on long Dillon pass.
Desmond Spivey drops a Dillon pass between the 8s.
Another drop: Kiare.
Pass interference call puts 1s on 50. Another, yes, another drop: Kiare.
Third down after Warren run. Spady calls running play, after so many drops. Warren can’t convert.
Dillon to O: We have to make the plays. It’s all about the next series.
Derrick Wilhite climbs a ladder to knock down a Reyes pass. very athletic play. Next series: Another drop on third.
Dillon catches fire, quickly moving the team down the field then tossing a 30 yard TD pass to Kiare. Difference: an uptempo no-huddle look.
Doug Porter, a College Hall of Famer, is attending Grambling practice on his 81st birthday.
FG attempt after Reyes gets 2s to 25. Bad snap. Higgins takes over.
A pair of great defensive plays by Tyree Bullock, before Batiste takes a Higgins pass on a crossing pattern for a first down.
Higgins stopped at 28. FG attempt: Low snap, low kick and a miss.
Dillon returns, hits Larry Donnell for 8 yards. Two plays later, first down pass to Walker.
Jhrron Spencer stuffs Walker on next running play.
Kendell Robinson, unblocked, stops Warren.
Nice roll out by Dillon, but another drop: Van Phillips. Drive killed.
First down catch by Corey Robinson. Run stuffed on first, then TJ McCord nearly picks Dillon off.
Third down: Dillon to Spivey for 52 yard touchdown
Referees now saying Spivey out inside 5. First and goal.
Consecutive runs stopped. Grambling rushers have been stymied today.
Offsides on defense on third down.
Grambling offense stopped again on pitch out to 33. Fourth down: QB keeper halted.

Walker gets going with 2s; Reyes hits Van Phillips for 40 yard touchdown. Ari Johnson XP is good.
Spady, relentlessly hassling umpire, is in midseason form.
Drive stalls after long incompletion to Van Phillips, who gamely fought through two defenders.
Anio picks off 35 yard pass by Dillon at 25. Pass interference called on Copeland next, as Dillon launches another.
Rodale Pippin gives as good as he gets in collision with John Carter.
Copeland puts Pippin to turf on next play.
Batiste taken out after needless foul; Spady – Don’t talk; DO.
Second down on 35: Cliff Exama gets through, forcing Dillon to throw it away. Scrimmage is over.
