Grambling confirms 2009 slate, including MEAC-SWAC, OK State

Grambling today officially released its 2009 football schedule, including a season-opening trip Sept. 6 for the program’s second SWAC/MEAC Challenge appearance. There, the Tigers will face South Carolina State in a game to be played in Orlando, Fla.

Grambling returns home the following weekend for the ’09 home opener against Northwestern State (Sept. 12th, 6 p.m.) before hitting the road to face SWAC East champion Jackson State (Sept. 19, 3:30 p.m.), in Jackson, Miss. The Tigers remain on the road for their first-ever visit to Stillwater, Okla., to face Oklahoma State (Sept. 26, 6 p.m.).

October once again brings the annual State Fair Classic in Dallas against Prairie View A&M (Oct. 3, 6 p.m.). Grambling then returns home to play host to Alabama A&M (Oct. 10, 3 p.m.) before heading to the Cramton Bowl to face Alabama State in Montgomery, Ala. (Oct. 17, kickoff still TBA). Homecoming rounds out the month, against Mississippi Valley State at Robinson Stadium (Oct 31st, 2 p.m.).

Grambling travels to Little Rock, Ark., to face Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the Delta Literacy Classic to open November (Nov. 7th, 4 p.m.). The Tigers’ home finale follows against Texas Southern (Nov. 12, 7 p.m.) before rounding out the season against Southern at the State Farm Bayou Classic XXXVII (Nov. 28, 1 p.m.).
