20/20 Hindsight: Broadway's dominance in SWAC, at home

gramblingham
Grambling has lost just six games since Rod Broadway and Co. arrived in 2007, and only once in a regular-season Southwestern Athletic Conference contest — 2007’s Bayou Classic against Southern.

Of those six total losses, half actually came by way to FCS-affiliated programs — Pittsburgh and Louisiana-Monroe in 2007 and Nevada last season. Previous to this rugged stretch of scheduling, Grambling had played just four upper-division teams over the previous seven seasons (Louisville in 2000; San Jose State in 2003; Washington State in 2005; and Houston in 2006).

Broadway has only lost two SWAC games total, including the 2007 postseason league-title match. His remaining career loss at Grambling came in 2008 to FCS foe Northwesten State, of the Southland Conference.

Going into a third year at Grambling, he has already beaten seven SWAC teams twice –Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Alcorn State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Mississippi Valley State, Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern.

Broadway’s fewest wins over a league foe so far have come against Southern, where Grambling is 1-1 – having split the Bayou Classic in 2007-08.

His most? Jackson State, with Broadway holding a 3-1 advantage over Rick Comegy. Grambling has won twice in the regular season, while splitting SWAC Championship Game appearances in 2007-08.

He has never lost at The Rob.
